Today sees the launch of Raresama, our flagship NFT marketplace on Moonbeam, Polkadot.

Raresama, like the original Moonsama NFT collection, was a happy accident. While the team was working on releasing Pondsama they realized Metaponds (metaverse fish ponds) would look even cooler decorated with Art NFTs created by the community. At the same time, talented Dotsama artists struggled to make sales in the bear market. The concept for Raresama was born: Art with long-term support to go into Moonsama’s (future) Metaverses. A home for the artists who want to create, unleash their creativity, tell their stories. They bring their talent, we bring utility and support.

Community curated Marketplace

Raresama will be 100% community governed and curated, meaning that verified NFTs on the platform will have to be voted in by the community.

For this, the marketplace will have its own governance token; the XC-20 token POOP (teleportable ERC20 across parachains). POOP underpins the whole marketplace and gives the community governance rights.

POOP has been distributed in a fair and decentralised manner to Moonsama community participants. During the past months, the community has participated in Moonsama Carnage events and obtained alpha resources, used to summon Pondsama NFTs. We feel that this token acts as the best utility mechanism for governance purposes.

The marketplace is deployed on Moonbeam and therefore art pieces are auctioned using GLMR. Auctions use a showdown mechanism, meaning that if a bid gets placed in 5 minutes before the end of the auction, the timer extends, allowing for more bidding. Bring on the bidding wars! This also prevents sniping.

Fully governed also means that platform development lies in the hands of the community. Together as a community we’re going to make Raresama truly special.

All features on Raresama have been derived from community feedback. Whilst Raresama launches with basic functionality, we will be delivering additional features in a swift and consistent manner.

Launch collection — Raresama Originals

Raresama will pay homage to the Polkadot NFT artists and launch with a one-off star-studded NFT art collection, curated by the Raresama Ambassadors and spearheaded by Yumi Arts. It contains digital 2D, 3D, voxel, pixel art and even hand-painted traditional artworks. Themes include impressionism, expressionism, abstract, cyberpunk, fantasy and more.

Moonsama Community Fund (MCF)

All profits from the Raresama NFT marketplace will go to the Moonsama Community Fund (MCF), voted in via governance by the Moonsama community. The MCF funds will be utilized to incentivize community engagement via the accustomed Moonsama Carnage mechanism, rewarding our most active users and sticking true to Moonsama’s roots.

Moonsama has always taken decentralised governance seriously and successfully implemented on-chain governance in our Minecraft Townhall. Every week the community comes together to discuss the direction of Moonsama and now will decide on the utilisation of its new community treasury.

Launch Collection — Gromlins

From the sewers of NOVA comes Gromlins. A 3,333 unique NFT artwork collection by Justine Cruz, known for his illustrative work on Magic the Gathering. To celebrate the launch of Raresama, Gromlins will be airdropped onto Moonsama NFT holders, Raresama artists, Exosama community members (Telegram snapshot) and 100+ listed on Raresama for 1GLMR each.

Gromlins will a creature featured in our wider NOVAverse. No initial utility has been announced aside from breeding (Baby Gromlins). 100% of the royalties/profit will go to the Moonsama Community Fund.

Raresama in action dogs in Thailand

There are over one million stray dogs in Thailand, also called soi dogs. Moonsama is starting a charity foundation to save thousands of dogs. Stray dogs will be tokenized on-chain and offered on Raresama as equipable NFTs. These NFTs can be used to create a sustainable fundraising mechanism for food, neutering, vaccinations and shelter. The dog NFTs can be equipped onto Moonsama’s/EXO’s, giving them utility and helping to construct sustainable fundraising mechanisms for humanitarian action.

Joining Raresama as an artist

If you are an artist and can’t wait to get started with Raresama: just sit tight a little longer! After the initial launch collection runs out we will go live with personal profiles and you will be able to mint your own NFTs on the platform. There will be three different types of user accounts on Raresama:

• Anonymous: you simply register a wallet address to a unique username. You sign in with your wallet and can vote, that’s it! No other things can be changed/added.
• Creator: Pay a fee in POOP and be able to create your own user profile letting you add a profile picture, cover image, description and promo link. This tier will also allow you to mint NFTs.
• Verified: This is akin to the blue checkmark of Twitter. To get to this stage, you need to stake a certain amount of POOP and get curated. Curation is simply putting your profile up for voting and the community decides with POOP whether you are worthy.
